Two years ago Cubans could only buy used rental cars so they bought a "modern" 2008 Renault SM3 with 100,000 kilometers for $30,000. It is worth $40,000 today because the Cuban government, a year ago, started selling brand new cars to Cubans, but with a $100,000 luxury sales tax. Now, you understand why only 2% of Cubans own a car. Yuliet and Manny lived for seven years in Camaguey, Cuba's third largest city. Most of the events in these two books takes place in Camaguey and Havana, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. Incredibly, both America and Cuba are neighbors, just 90 miles apart, and so different, bitter enemies for 56 years, even after the historic December 17, 2014 announcement normalizing relations, but, yet, they are more alike than either Cuba or America would care to admit. The Untold History of the United States begins with Oliver Stone looking straight at the camera saying how "perturbed" he was that his kids were getting the same dishonest view of America he got growing up in New York. Michael Kifer is an associate professor of Computer Science at SUNY Stony Brook. He received his PhD, from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. His professional interests include database systems, logic programming, and knowledge representation.

Scott A. Smolka is a professor of Computer Science at SUNY Stony Brook. He received his Ph.D. from Brown University. His research interests include semantics of concurrency, design of distributed algorithm and languages, and visual environments for concurrent systems.

Okay for some theory stuff but the actual SQL stuff ...

Okay for some theory stuff but the actual SQL stuff should have been a much larger deal in this book, for students in a Databases class. Get it if you absolutely have to for a class but otherwise just learn your SQL online.

Use only if desperate to find an SQL book for Access

I know the pickings are slim for finding a book to learn SQL using Access, but PLEASE can't someone who knows how to teach and cares about getting their information correct write one? First off, this book has many errors including some statements that work OPPOSITE to the statements. Ex: On page 105 the description for "Nested LEFT and RIGHT OUTER JOINs" reads "In Access, A LEFT JOIN or a RIGHT JOIN can be nested inside an INNER JOIN, but an INNER JOIN cannot be nested inside a LEFT JOIN or a RIGHT JOIN." NO. NO. NO. It works in the opposite way.
The tables to be used in the book tutorials often bear no relationship at all to the fields or to the data and some of the naming produces run errors-- creating a frustrating experience for a student. This was obviously no labor of love for the authors, but a slapdash method to pump out a book. It is a crime that there was no quality assurance on this book. That alone would have caught the worst of it. For shame to all associated with its publication.
I generously gave it two stars just because it is probably better than nothing, but not much better. Again, here's a call to all of you SQL trainers out there: your market is wide open.

About the Author
Witold Fitz-Simon (author) is a certified yoga instructor living and working in the New York area. He began to study yoga and meditation as an antidote to a stressful career in the entertainment industry. After a decade of studying several of the many styles that New York has to offer, including Jivamukti, Ashtanga and Integral Yoga, he discovered the Iyengar method. In 2000 he embraced the yoga lifestyle and began teaching. He is registered with Yoga Alliance and continues to teach and write about yoga full time.

Barbara Hulanicki (illustrator) is an internationally acclaimed designer of fashion and interiors. She was co-founder and sole designer of Biba in 1964, the first boutique to provide high fashion at street prices. She went on to produce several fashion and cosmetics lines throughout the 70’s and 80’s. In 1987 she moved to Miami Beach and was a key figure in the revival of the South Beach Art Deco District, designing several properties in Miami and the Carribbean for Chris Blackwell’s Island Outpost Group and for singer Gloria Estefan. She continues to live and work in Miami Beach.

Great Support Tool for Grad Students

This was a book recommended by my professor which is how I found out about this series. These are a great supplement to actual courses to help refresh your memory, for those versed in business, or a good introductory material for grad school students. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for undergraduates unless they are an upperclassmen, simply because some of the language implies a foundation of knowledge before piling it on.
