George Hutton, a graduate of Williams College and Yale School of Architecture, is a retired architect with firsthand experience in brickmaking at the Hutton Company in Kingston, New York.

An amazing book for anyone wanting to know about the importance of bricks!

George was the first husband of my college roommate. It is such a thorough exposition of anything to do with bricks that I was amazed as I read the book! It was purchased as a gift for a friend who collects bricks (Who knew there were such people?)! I have a much greater appreciation of the brick industry! The house I grew up in is mentioned on page 158, though he was mistaken, as it is still in private hands.
My friend has 3000 different bricks in her collection and regularly goes to "brick swaps" all over the country! My admiration for brick making is established with this book! The hard work involved astounds me!
