He concludes that international society is unlikely to be successfully reformed if governments continue to will progressive ends whilst evading responsibility for their actions.

James Mayall is Sir Patrick Sheehy Professor of International Relations at the University of Cambridge, and Fellow of Sidney Sussex College. He has written widely on nationalism, international society, and Africa's international relations.

Most Helpful Solution For Teaching Tooth Brushing

Love. Love. Love this book. When my son started cutting his teeth, we knew we had to find a way to regularly brush his teeth but the fights to let us get near his mouth with a toothbrush were just too much. We tried every toothbrush we could find... maybe he just didn't like the toothbrushes we were trying to use? We tried different tooth pastes... and even just water. Maybe he didn't like the taste? Out of desperation one day, I decided to get a book... I knew he loved to read. This book changed all of struggles. We sat the book in front of him and let him follow along and even try to brush the animal's teeth with the included toothbrush while we brushed his. It worked like a charm. No more tears. After about a month of that, we no longer need the book either. He loves brushing his teeth now. This book was definitely the most helpful solution in our transition to brushing teeth!

Great concept, but the pull tabs MAY be an issue for your child

I had high hopes for this book, and I think the concept is absolutely brilliant, but the pop-ups are (for my child, who is nearing age three) distracting--the noses on the featured animals pop out so that this is the first thing that she, and frankly, I notice. I wouldn't mind this at all if the pull tabs were consistent in their resistance/fluidity: some of the pull tabs are rigid and thus hard for her to move, while others move incredibly easily and actually feel loose, so I get the sense that this book will not last for long. We've had the book for two days now, and it's already showing signs of wear and tear.

Quick defense of the book and its construction: Though this is not a board book, the paper is thick and double layered so my child's experience/motor skill difficulities may be irrelevant to yours. Also, the pop-ups are adorably illustrated and do "grab" a little one's attention.

I bought this book because I wanted my daughter to have some additional and consistent outside reinforcement showing that brushing teeth is something we all do, but after witnessing the last 48 hours of her interactions with the book, it seems that unless I take control of the book and am the one to toggle the pull tabs that the book is doomed to destruction--and my daughter has been taught to respect books and really tries to be gentle with them, but she's not yet three, so she does pull too hard on things at times. But to utilize this kind of tactic deprives her of the fun of interacting with the book, and of taking control of brushing "someone else's teeth".

One possible solution: use the book in the bathroom as your little one is brushing her/his teeth, so she/he gets some entertainment and a step-by-step guide through the brushing process. Just an idea!

In terms of the book's format, it seems most appropriate for children who are nearing three and a half years, though the actual writing that accompanies the illustrations may be too simplistic for older toddlers: "Bears brush their teeth up and down. Brush, brush, brush. Shouldn't you? Brush Brush." But the interactions with the book would probably make up for it (flossing a shark's teeth; maneuvering a toothbrush all around a lion's mouth, etc.). Great fun there!

I really love the concept of the book, just wish the materials were more durable for the needs and motor skill level of most two-year-olds. Hence the 4 star rating. Still, I would buy this book for children who are slightly older than mine.

I belive that my son is the most difficult child in brushing his teeth, he used to cry and screem every time we brush his teeth, and he wold never tuch the teeth brush with his hands. I started to search Amazon and i bought this book + elmo book : ready, set, brush + dazzlepro musical teeth brush + StarSmiles elegator that has teeth to teach children to brush. To be honest the most effective things was THIS BOOK + Dasslepro music teeth brush. I had take a vedio for this book to upload as a review but the suprise was that my son wold always take my mobile to see this vedio when we are out home. This book realy work and motivate little kids. Imagine that one time my son went to his room and started to brush his teeth with dazzlepro music teeth brush without any help! even no one asked him to brush his teeth! This transformation in my son is because THIS BOOK + DAZZLEPRO

This is the most unhelpful textbook I have ever used. Yes, it included all the significant personality theorists and theories, so as far as content goes, it's fine. BUT the explanations were so long-winded and convoluted that I couldn't understand some of the theories at all. I went away thinking I was just an idiot when it came to theories of personality, only to start looking at other textbooks and realize that no, the theories were perfectly within my understanding... when they were adequately explained.

About the Author

Richard T. Corlett, Research Professor and Director of Center for Integrative Conservation, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Richard Corlett obtained his first degree from the University of Cambridge in 1974, followed by a PhD in plant ecology at the Australian National University, with fieldwork in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. He has subsequently held teaching posts at the University of Chiang Mai (1980-82), National University of Singapore (1982-87, 2008-2012), and the University of Hong Kong (1988-2008). In 2012 he moved to the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Yunnan, to take charge of a new Center for Integrative Conservation. His major research interests include terrestrial ecology and biodiversity conservation in tropical East Asia, plant-animal interactions, urban ecology, invasive species, and the impacts of climate change. He was elected President of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC) in 2012.

A phenomenal book on the quest for the Self

Aziz Kristof is now Anadi. He came out of self imposed seclusion last year. Anadi lives in Almora, in the north of India and holds spiritual retreats, all over the world, the latest of which is in Israel.

Before going into seclusion, He had authored two books - The Human Buddha and Transmission of Awakening, and co-authored another book Enlightenment Beyond Traditions with his soul brother Houman Emani.

Simply put The Human Buddha is the most advanced book on seeking you will ever find. Yes, this book is even more advanced than Nisargadatta Maharaj's I am That, by whom Aziz was profoundly impacted. If you have reached this far, then consider it to be an act of providence. Read this book, and prepare to be transformed. The first half (1/5th of the book) consists of Aziz's guided meditations, in which He talks about absolute meditation, and living in the present. The second half (most of the rest of the book) consists of question/answer sessions in which Aziz answers the questions of His disciples.

At the fag end of the book comes a short, but profoundly inspiring autobiographical account, in which Aziz, talks about His early childhood, His growing up years, how He had to compulsorily serve in the army, His subsequent escape and travels throughout Asia, and His final journey to India. He finally attains enlightenment in Kerala, to the south of India.

Unlike most other masters (many of them genuine) who seek to assemble large groups of disciples around themselves, Aziz has no such ambitions. He wants to keep His work private, and open to only the genuine seeker, not someone who is looking for thrills or a sense of mystery. While this limits His appeal, it also makes Him more open and available to the genuine seeker. My search has ended after reading this book, and I am profoundly grateful to have found Anadi.

A Deep Understanding and Incredible Work

This large book consists of two parts. The first 1/4 to 1/3 is Aziz' guided meditation. There is some insightful material but the real meat of this book is in the remainder which is question and answer which is grouped into chapters of like questions/answers. An amazing book, something like Nisargadatta's "I Am That", that I would return to time and time again.

MITonline offers the course based on this book for free. The course is great! This book is a less engaging, but a more comprehensive version of A.P. French's original text for the course. There are many gems in the book, such as insights into microwave oven fundamentals, that are not present in basic texts. Beware the softcover binding, it needs a gentle hand.

Very good textbook despite 40 years old

This book is some 40 years old. I, however, found it very instructive and enjoyable. It forms part of the Syllabus of the Lewin MIT 8.03 course. I now understand why. The book is clearly written. The book is filled with worked examples that are interesting and flow from the text. There is consistent explicit use of units and after examples are used they are put in context of the text,

The book covers: oscillations, waves, electromagnetic radiation, transmission of electromagnetic radiation, reflection, refraction, scattering, interaction of electromagnetic fields with matter, diffraction/interference and coherence. This journey is based on classical physics. The authors, however, are quick to point out the limitations of this approach but defend t he practice based on the reasonableness of the approximation for the scale of domain under consideration and the use of expectation values.

The color of the sky, why gold is yellow and silver shiny gray and the frequency dependence of a number of other phenomena as discussed. One example illustrated the tissue penetration of microwave energy into biological tissues. These were all delightful examples.

I am certain that I am completely ignorant of a number of limitations of this book. I also cannot hope to have deep insights into the necessity of quantum mechanics for the nanoscale understanding. However, the clarity and well organized nature of this 40 year old book has certainly diminished my ignorance in a constructive manner.

This is a excellent text for undergraduates in physics or EE to understand the fundamental electromagnetic properties of vibrations, waves and radiation. It supplements Purcell's very well. Having studied it, you are equipped with solid understanding and can go on into Optics.

It's a fundamental book

Among major books on population genetics of M. Nei was prominently not only in the way that each chapter addresses the essentials but also entertaining and accessible at the same. This book is recommended and topical despite the years that have passed since its publication. It is a reference book not only but also for any course of basic and higher level of population genetics.

Excelent guide

The book is excellent because the explanations are very easy to understend. But at the same time the level is high, althoughty have a lot algorithms about the methods, are pretty easy to follow those. Is ideal for people who (like me) only have a few knowlodge about genetics and also people are genetics master. I consider a big person to the author (Nei), he is now for me the best author and research about genetics, because thanks at his books I've could learn every time more and more about genetics.
